Jam Up! is an evidenced-base, digital toolbox designed to empower autistic children to gain autonomy with getting dressed, using gamification. Jam Up! has been created by the parent of an autistic child with support from over 200 other families. Additional tasks or modules are due to be added to Jam Up! in the near future. Evidence-based educational videos and daily top tips developed and delivered by health-care professionals provide timely support to the parents/carer.
Results from a recent pilot study in Essex report that Jam Up! helped 67% of users ‘get dressed with less stress’ and 89% of parent/carers reported it enabled their child to be more independent with dressing. Jam Up! has exceeded ORCHA Healthcare apps regulatory requirements, meeting relevant NHS Clinical, data, privacy, accessibility, and usability standards. Jam Up! was runner up in the Essex Care Tech Challenge, winner of the University of Birmingham N-CODE Neurological Technologies Pitching competition and winner of Slush’d Cornwall.
